Aaron Helmrichs founded Aaron’s Westside Roofing in Des Moines in 2000, leveraging his 35 years of experience in the roofing industry. Over the years, the company flourished under his leadership, becoming a prominent roofing business in central Iowa. In 2021, Aaron made the decision to step back from the responsibilities of business ownership and sold Aaron’s Westside Roofing to Andrew (Andy) Marotti, a colleague and Des Moines native. Aaron remains active in the business serving in a sales, customer relations and mentorship role.
With the acquisition, the company underwent a transformation, rebranding as Aaron’s Roofing Inc. Under Andy’s stewardship, and with the many connections Andy had built in the Des Moines community over the years, Aaron’s Roofing experienced rapid growth, with sales volume doubling in both 2021 and 2022.
Aaron’s Roofing Inc. specializes in residential and commercial shingle roofing, and caters to a wide spectrum of projects across Central Iowa. From modest undertakings like roofing sheds and dog houses, to large-scale endeavors such as multi-building apartment complexes, Aaron’s Roofing Inc. is equipped to handle projects of any size or complexity.
Andy’s journey from his roots in Beaverdale, Iowa, to becoming a business owner is a testament to his hard work, determination and commitment to his home state. In 2001, Andy began as a draftsman for an engineering firm, which laid the groundwork for his understanding of construction and design. Transitioning into the role of a local roofing and framing contractor from 2004 to 2015 allowed Andy to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. This experience provided him with valuable insights into the practical aspects of building and managing projects.
Andy’s move to a materials distribution company from 2016 to 2021 expanded his knowledge of the supply chain and logistics within the construction industry. This position gave Andy insights into the business side of construction, preparing him for his eventual venture as a business owner. In 2021, Andy’s dream of owning his own business came to fruition when he purchased Aaron’s Roofing. This step marked a significant milestone in his career, allowing him to apply his years of experience and expertise in a leadership role.
Outside of his professional life, Andy enjoys a fulfilling family life in Urbandale with his wife Michelle, who works as a nurse, showcasing a commitment to both his career and his family. Together, they have two children, Grace and Maya, and they share a love for camping, vacationing, outdoor activities, and golfing.
